We didn’t get to snow we were anticipating, nor the power outage I was expecting. Sally and I brought up the Emergency Kit plus all the flastlights we own. And wouldn’t you believe? Not a single snowflake and not even a single flicker. XD

Many of the areas around us lost power for a while, though. On the lakeshore they had gusts up to 75mph and 12 - 15 foot waves. Really made me miss Grand Haven, seeing so much of it on the News because of the effects they got from the storm. But I don’t miss their weather. I’ve had to race off the beach numerous times in the past because a squall line was coming in. There’s been tons of waterspouts sighted off-shore too, but I’ve never had the honor of seeing them. Better out there than inland. *nod nod*

We had some pretty good flurries the 13th, but nothing stuck… well at least for long.

In other news, Sharra and Swiftgold have been twisting my arm over a game called The Legend of Dragoon. I have to say, it didn’t take much arm twisting. XD The game looks insanely great and after reading their fics on FF.net, I have to say I’m hooked on the original Dragoons - who are pretty minor characters. So, I guess next payday I’m going to RSVP $20 and go see if I can find it. I know Walmart has it, but I dunno if I’m going to be able to get over there. I refuse to buy it at my workplace. It’d be convenient, but there’s this stupid asshole over in the Toy Department who I would rather avoid. That leaves K-Mart unless by some great chance I spot it at in returning toys people have left in my department, the asshole isn’t working, and can’t do without walking out the door with it.

Legacies of the Fallen” is driving me absolutely batty. I know what I want to say, but damnit… I can’t seem to find the words. I want my Zealian guy to be thrown back in time after a construction accident with the Ocean Palace. But getting there is just simply not happening. I’ve been at this now for days and I’m barely past a half page. *pounds his head*

I can’t believe I wrote Seto Kaiba from Yu-Gi-Oh almost perfectly, but my Zealian Nobleman, Gavesin, has nearly the same arrogant, superior attitude - and I can’t write him to save my friggin’ life. In fact, the whole reason I got stuck on my chapter of Tempus Temporis is because I switched from Kaiba to Yugi. Here, I switch from Leander to Gavesin, and now I’m stuck here too. All I have to do is write him being an whiny, arrogant ass, wielding his water magic, and then BOOM - construction accident, swept into the sea, “that evening the tides ran red” - and the section is over.

*falls over*

I’ve also realized my chapters are tiny. I mean absolutely miniscule. Amanda’s chapters are huge and actually have substance to them. Mine really don’t. They’re just one scene and BOOM - chapter over. I think once I have this scene written, I’ll rearrange Chapter One and slip it in before I have poor Leander attacked. That way it mixes things up a little instead of having two chapters of Lee back to back.

Here’s what I have so far:

Kajar, The Kindom of Zeal

There was a certain, captivating simplicity to the Queen’s idea.

There was something intriguing about the very idea of a glorious, sprawling palace sheltered from the vicious blizzards above by the deep, cobalt waters of the sea. They would be tapped directly into the inexhaustible energy of the almighty Lavos where they would finally ascend to Zeal’s proper role as the center of the universe.

However, after being debriefed on the actual construction of the Undersea Palace the only thing that was certain was the atmosphere of fear. Pervasive, it hung around the corridors and stifled the very air they breathed. Like a plague upon the Kingdom, it spread and grew.

The Gurus of Zeal; men of great wisdom and unparalleled intellect tried their best to assure the various teams of the safety of the construction. Even the most basic first stages - pushing back the sea - were not without contingency plans and fail-safes. For a short time, it seemed the fears had been assuaged and it seemed as though the plan would proceed on schedule.

Yet today, on the dawn that the Tidal Lords of Zeal would push back the sea to allow for construction to begin, the effects were clear to be seen. Of the many that had offered their services to assist with the first stage of construction, only fourty remained.

“Too few.” Was the statement that issued from the lips of the Guru called Belthasar. It had been little more than a breath as the Masters of Wind and Water had boarded the Blackbird and then softer still, “There are too few.”

—————-

And that’s it. =/ Had to get help from Sharra just to come up with “stifled the very air they breathed.” Maybe I should skip this scene and get the next one written, come back to this one later. Yeah, that’s a thought.

I’m still getting over the fact that you have snow. Or at least flurries. I know what you mean with your problem on writting the stories. It is taking me over five days to write this battle scene in my LOTR story, mainly cause I am terrbile at describing action. Then the other challenge is making sure the Tolkein characters stay in character. It’s great when you can "hear" them say what you are writting down. That usually means that you have them down pat. ^_^

Bah, Legend of Dragoon…you can get it a lot cheaper than $20. ;)

I hate multi-day power outages, too. No AC = dead froggy. =P

What you have is good! You are an excellent writer Jasson, and when you give power to your doubts your doubt has power over you. Argh stupid saying, J always tells me that and when he does I want to strangle him- anywho. Writing is quite frustrating, it is.

Funny you mention it but I am thinking about putting characters in my real-life-fiction story that will be based of you + Sally. We’ll see if I can come up with clever names, if not watch, they’ll be Jasson and Sally. Let me know if you detest the idea and just feel free to spork me.

I still haven’t even written the first chapter of my book and I’ve been working on it _forever_.
