I quit. No more of this shit.

I am no longer a member of Gaia Online. I’ve officially had it with the n00bs, the griefers, the narrow-minded idiots, and the sugar glompers. I’ve had it with g01d and its spam, flamers, and teens with a toddler mindset. I’ve had it with “only my way or you suck” and being flamed nearly each and every time I post a bloody topic - no matter how sensitive and politely I’ve written it.

I’ve had it with the consensus in the writing forums that fanfiction is worthless and akin to masturbation. Even worse if it uses any form of original characters, no matter how well written it is. The outrage that I’d post a story that they don’t like is pathetic, as though I shoved a gun up their ass and forced them to read it. Why the hell is it that I can tell within a paragraph - sometimes within the first three sentences - that I won’t like a story? And yet, they - and remember, they think they’re infinitely more intelligent than I am - feel they were compelled to read something they know they won’t like? It’s not like I didn’t put a ridiculously huge warning at the top of my stories about what’s in them, like the one at the top of the one I’m referring to… which warns that I’ve chosen to center the story around a new cast of original characters.

If you don’t like it: STOP READING IT! It isn’t hard! But do you think they can do that? Nooo.

And to this I say…

Idiots of the world, thou art stupid.

What precipatated this rant? I joined two forums this past week, both for gaming and I’m instantly accepted. I’ve haven’t been flamed, opinions have been expressed sensibly and maturely. They haven’t spammed me and in just two days I’ve made two new friends. That’s saying something for me, the great lurker extraordinarie. That even beats the A-Rise’s and Bent Lounge’s records with me.

Blah… on the fanfiction front, I’ve signed up for that review group Izzy, Crim, and the others are putting together. I’m not sure how that’s going to be taken, but damnit… online fandom is currently feeling like it’s going to hell. Not to quote song lyrics, but I’m noticing that the line between what’s fucked up and what’s alright gets thinner with each generation of n00bs that appear.

And, if anyone from Gaia is reading this: No, I will not give, donate, or sell you any of my avatar’s equipment. It’s just pixels, get over it.

    ROTFL!

I’m amused when people think it’s in their place to flame something they don’t like. Even more so when they go on and on about how offended their delicate sensitivities wer.

I’ve not hung around Gaia much anymore. That whole board…all it feels like is one giant goldrush. Everything’s about making goldies or getting items and whatnot. Whatever happened to the social aspect? It’s feeling less and less like a community. I suppose it’s just too large for me to get comfy in.

Which two gaming forums did you join, btw? I’m insanely curious. I’m on the RPGFan forums, and it’s a pretty cool message board. Small, but nice and closeknit. And none of this “OMFG! I’m sensitive! *crycrywhinewhine*”

Ah well…it gets harder and harder to write stuff away from the mainstream, mediocre garbage that everybody fawns over nowadays. But that’s okay…most of the rest of the world is incapable of appreciating good stuff when you stick it right in front of their noses anyways. ^^ (hugs)
