Wow, it’s actually been years since I last gave myself a new layout. I think it’s time to put up the default Wordpress layout so it forces me to come up with something new.

Title: Why
Author: Marohi

Date Published: 23-April

“Why” is perhaps a good word to describe his unsaid comment. But remained unsaid and would never be spoken. Things were seldom simple, as far as life went. Year after year, it only became more complex. A childish question of “why” would only bring more questions, rather than the simple answer he sought.

He gazed back to the hill. Row after row of gnarled stumps, standing like tombstones under the hot sun. Cool rain would never wash between the leaves again, nor fog curl like a lazy cat between the trunks, nor water glisten on ripening apples. No more diamond veil spider webs in the morning.

There were never simple answers, only complex questions that would go without answer.

Orpheus just reminded me that we should hold a contest or something and get some linking banners for Lunaescence. Since I can’t program with the server down, I think I’m going to make some very basic link buttons over tomorrow.

So don’t mind me, kind of making a note to myself so I don’t forget my objectives for tomorrow.

Misc Usage:
Pixel Tags / Blinkies (ie tiny)

Banners:
88×31
200×40
468×60

Sigs:
160×90
350×19
Stamps?

And of course,
100×100 for icons for LJ.

Any anime, manga, gaming, etc. series welcome as is non-series specific. Also better put the Luna moon into a format we can share.

Large Banner Ideas

  • Creme-de-la-creme; not creme-de-la-CRAP!
  • Moderated, for your protection. (Condom parody.)
  • Grammar nazis rule!

Maybe it’s a good idea we’re having a contest. Most of my ideas make us sound really snobbish and elitist to me. ^^;

Maybe that’ll keep me from sleeping tomorrow away. =]P

While procrastinating studying for finals, I happened onto some art on DA.

I completely realize that I should keep an open mind in regards to art, but somehow — just somehow, a shot up someone’s hoo-hah just doesn’t seem that… artistic. XD And are those anime girls with the huge-ass stomachs supposed to be pregnant? O_o

I can’t wait until winter break starts. eFiction 3.0 is finally out, which means I can go wild over on Luna and feel like a 1337 programmer again. (Of course, gotta upgrade the sucker first… which is going to be… erm… fun.) Happy happy, joy joy. =D

But first… blarg, finals.

Okay, I feel really good! =) I just made my first captcha script! (Well, to be fair, I just completed a tutorial that took me step-by-step to make it.)

It needs some serious tweaking, because I have trouble reading some of the strings it produces. I wonder if there’s a way to put like little onigiri or other Japanese-cartoony type icons behind the text and make it a font that isn’t so HUGE. (400kb)

This is called a “captcha script.” It’s a little visual confirmation code that forces someone to input what they see before they’ll be allowed to register etc. Now that I have it creating the code and the matching image, all I have to do is have the archive compare the answer which is stored in a session (meaning, it becomes outdated fairly quickly) with what the person wrote.

The idea is to stop spammers from using a computer program (a “bot”) from registering on a web site.

It’s not foolproof, some programs can read it, plus they can always register manually. It also keeps the visually impaired from registering and may be too difficult for regular folks too.

Anyway, just had to share my little success. Sadly, I must now go back to my (real) homework.

*salutes*
