Whoever decided how HTML and CSS displays on Internet Explorer really needs to be taken out and shot thrown off a bridge beaten to within an inch of their lives had their head examined.
*cough* Yeah.
Arrh! Why is it I can always make my layouts look really good in FireFox, passable in Opera, and pretty damned nice in everything else…. BUT Internet Explorer??
Anyway, trying to finish up my Pink layout and get it up on the site. It had been looking pretty decent on my computer, but once I put it up on my site — it broke. Badly. In both Opera and MSIE, but MSIE is far worse.
( I even broke out my book of cheats, so I could make that annoying horizontal scrollbar go bye-bye. ^^; )
I also realized how badly my story listings looked, so I’m redoing those too. I hate doing the story listings. Everything else goes really smoothly (once I get off my ass), until I get to those damned things. Second most hated is the front page, where I have to put up the poll, recently added, and news blocks.
I really wish they’d just hurry up and MAKE a CSS command that would automatically give blocks nice, rounded corners.

Woot! I finally got the name of my favorite green tea: Kukicha Hatsukura. =)
Bright and early yesterday morning, we ran to Herman’s Boy to pick up some more tea. This time I grabbed a $5 bag of Darjeeling, since Ookami recommended it. I haven’t fixed any yet; we’ve been drinking a lot of iced tea lately and I think I’d rather try Darjeeling hot first.
Working on my Pink layout, which is difficult given how hot the computer room is right now. I have the blocks figured out now; it’s going to take me about 8 separate css commands to make them curved. Hopefully the layout ends up as liquid as it’s appearing to me.

Well, I passed the spring semester with three A’s and one B+. =) Not a bad haul, if I do say so myself.
I registered for my fall classes this evening, taking a bunch of advanced HTML and programming stuff. (Woot!) Good news is that after Fall semester, I’ll only have three classes left to take: e-commerce, speech, and a one week seminar on writing my resume and other junk.
I feel like I did back when I was playing EQ and I had only one bulb left to a level; or maybe when I’m trying to level my favorite team of Final Fantasy characters to a level to take on a tough boss.
I’m tired, but I’m not going to rest until I have it. I want this degree so bad I can taste it.
Tomorrow is going to be a busy day. I’m going to call the college and talk to my advisor about whether or not I could get that 1 week seminar out of the way yet this summer. Finally, I’m going to register at a few internship search sites and see if I can dredge up some contacts around town that are also in Web design / development.
At first I was down thanks to the news that they’re increasing the interest rates on student loans, but after looking at my step plan absolutely nothing could burst this bubble.
Watch out world, here I come!

Well, as much as I love my Gears layout… I think it’s time to consider a new layout.
While I’m not directly taking Flash this semester, Sally is and I’ve been reading her book. Interesting stuff. I won’t make the whole layout flash, but I just might make some of my buttons and stuff Flash just to see what I can’t do.
Still waiting on word for my financial aid for Summer semester and beyond. I love school, but I’m beginning to get burnt out. At the same time, I really don’t want to give it up even for the summer.
Good luck to everyone having a hard time. It’s looking like this year is sucking for everyone. *hugs*
Money is still tight for us, but I’m doing my damnest not to think about it. Mom got hired in to Kalfact full-time, so no more running down to Alpine Ave. to pick up her paycheck so that should help us on gas. Even so, we have to run back down tomorrow because Forge forgot to print her paycheck for her. As much as we loved having mom for four full days, Memorial Day is going to make this month a little tight too.
I know we probably shouldn’t have, but we passed on renewing our food stamps. After making so many trips down to the FIA to get assistance during the eviction, only to be told that because we were trying to get out of a bad situation, we couldn’t get one iota of help… Yeah. We passed. I’m about ready to try Forge myself and see if they can find me a job, maybe Kalfact with mom so we can carpool.
Finally got around to using the gift card Theresa sent me. Ended up buying sun block and a bunch of little things for the family like shampoo, bandaids, paper towels, and that sort of thing. Due to Sally’s meds, she’s light sensitive so she’s using up all the sun block. For some inane reason, I started doing the same thing. XD At least now, she has her bottle and I have mine. (Yes… It’s MINE! My only…. my preeccious….)
I spent most of this afternoon updating the blogs and the archive. Some of those errors really didn’t want to be fixed. =P I think I’ll break in my latest flavor of caffeine, so maybe I’ll stay up and get the rest of the updates done so maybe Sal will get back to work on the layouts. (So I can get back to the Soi layout for the MB)

Hmm… that last textbook sold for more than I was expecting. I was expecting to make only about $10 - $15 and Amazon just sent me a note saying it was more like $26 after the extra they paid me to ship it expedited.
Now… what to do with my mad money. I found out my local Suncoast closed, so going there to buy a little Jpop isn’t feasible. (Grand Rapids is way too frigging conservative, we need a real anime store!)
Paid LJ? I’m such an icon whore I could fill up the extra slots easily. It might also persuade me to do a little Web design. I downloaded all those Pretear screencaps Kim posted and don’t have anything more than just a sketch in my design notepad.
Or do I go buy a bunch of music from iTunes? I seriously only buy Japanese CDs, I got tired of buying American CDs and only liking a single song. I think the last album where I liked the whole thing was Foo Fighters, One by One. Well, not quite… I was able to listen to Sally’s latest Enya CD too. Y’know… maybe if the music industry got their collective heads out of their asses and made some decent music instead of concentrating on just a couple good songs an album I’d be persuaded to buy more CDs. As it is, CDs are way too expensive. It’s just sad when imported CDs are nearly the same price as domestic ones. I found out in my marketing class that studies have shown that piracy drops considerably when the CDs are affordable. Gee, whiz — I wonder why. XD
I could use a new backpack or messenger bag; my old backpack is going to rip one of these days — probably at the absolute worst time. Old Navy has a pretty good-sized one on sale for $13.
More coffee or tea? I buy my coffee from a local place that roasts their own coffee beans and imports teas from all over the place. Some tea would last longer than buying more soda and be healthier for me too. Maybe if I had a little left over, those cool icons I found for the message board on the Icon Buffet are only $5.
lol I like this; wondering what to spend money on instead of worrying.
Anyway… classes are going very good. Just wait until I finish this semester, Ohoho! I’m taking scripting, which means the site will be getting a huge overhaul so I can show off what I’ve learned. Though I suppose I should wait and play with the Oekaki or forums instead; the new version of the library script is in alpha testing right now. With the exception of the trophy case, most of my planned mods for the profiles are already in the new version. We might even be able to get fanart back, though I’m not sure it’s even needed now.
Fun fun. =)
